Another Glorious Sunset at Ocean Beach…

I’ll never get tired of these San Francisco Sunsets.  Good thing I’m lucky enough to call the Sunset District home and this is just steps from where I’m fortunate enough to live.  If this isn’t a million dollar view, I don’t know what is!

Selling Your Home? Stash Your Stuff!

I snapped the above picture today while I was lost in the Union Square Garage.  It wasn’t that I forgot where I parked my car – I clearly remember that it was parked in 3E.  Unfortunately, I had forgotten how to actually GET to 3E.  Saying it was a long day wins the understatement of the week award!

Brrrrr….. It's Cold in San Francisco (NOT!)

I almost caught myself complaining today that our February weather had dropped from last weeks high 70’s to today’s (brrrrr) mid 60’s.  I mean, I had to wear a jacket, in SF, in February.  How inconvenient!

In light of the recent earthquake in New Zealand and the fact that in any given week, California land is shaking dozens of times, I thought this would be a good time to share these natural hazard maps with you again.  Looking at the USGS Map, just in the last day, the Cloverdale area, about an hour and a half north of San Francisco, has had dozens on little shakers.

Snapshots of San Francisco's Past: Fort Point

If you’re at Fort Point today, you’re probably a tourist or you’re wearing a wetsuit! This photo from 1890 is from the Golden Gate Recreation area from Above Fort Point – but if you notice, something is missing.  It’s big, it’s red, and it’s being retrofitted right now!  (Yes, it’s the Golden Gate Bridge if you hadn’t guessed.)

Coyotes in San Francisco – Not a Figment of Your Imagination

Coyotes in San Francisco – Not a Figment of Your Imagination

San Francisco has it’s fair share of Wildlife.  From foxes, to hawks to feral cats and more, one often overlooked, but in my eyes, majestic, species, is the coyote.
The good folks at Baghdad by the Bay have an awesome blog, and it just happened to take a little look at the primitive dogs recently.
From Glen Park Canyon, to Golden Gate Park, to Park Presidio and beyond – SF’s coyotes are making a comeback.

San Francisco Photos: Golden Gate Bridge During Passing Storm

San Francisco Photos: Golden Gate Bridge During Passing Storm

I’ve had a few rough days.  First, it was a sinus headache that (still) makes me feel like I’m being continuously punched in the forehead.  And then, it was the passing of a matriach, my step-grandmother, a 91 year old woman with the spirit of a twenty-something, the memory of an elephant and a heart of gold.  I always knew her as “Babushka Luba” (yes, there are more Luba’s out there than just me) and was amazed to discover that she had a life long before she was a Babushka and in fact, she was one of a few female soldiers with the Soviet Army in WWII.  Her platoon made it all the way to Berlin before the war ended.  And, well, her collections of medals was truly impressive.  She’ll be missed by her kids, her grandkids, her great-grandkids, and by anyone whose life she touched.
